Halloween is coming and we have no tricks or treats to offer. We do, however, offer best wishes for a productive harvest to Warren County Farmers.
The rains came the evening we had our Family Celebration of our Re-established Prairie event. We moved inside and had 40 people munch on hot dogs and chips while listening to Ron Sheve relate how the prairie on our Church grounds came to be.
Care of our Common Home

One small thing we can all do to care for our common home:
~ Take shorter showers
Factoid:
Trees reduce the amount of carbon dioxide in the atmosphere by absorbing it and storing it for extended periods. Long-lived trees, including high-elevation pines and other high-northern conifers, can store carbon for many centuries. By pulling CO2 from the air, trees lower the amount of greenhouse gas in the atmosphere. Therefore, deforestation increases the amount of CO2 in two ways: The act of cutting trees down releases stored CO2; a tree has to be alive 40 years in order to absorb one ton of carbon dioxide.
“Glance at the sun. See the moon and the stars. Gaze at the beauty of earth’s greenings. Now, think. What delight God gives to humankind with all these things…All nature is at the disposal of humankind. We are to work with it. For without we cannot survive.” St. Hildegard of Bingen
