Creation Care Team email:
It could be just me, but we seem to be having much more severe weather with all kinds of storms more often. Is it the result of climate change? Gosh, I think so.
We mourn the passing of Pope Benedict. He was a tremendous and passionate lover of the environment. One among many meaningful quotes from Pope Benedict is, “The order of creation demands that priority be given to those human activities that do not cause irreversible damage to nature.”
As with all of you, our Creation Care Team has been focusing on Christmas and family for the past month. We are excited about our coming year. One of the phrases from Laudato Si is our responsibility to “Till and Tend” our earth. To this end we are beginning with a dialogue with five farmers in our parish, at 6:30 pm, Tuesday, January 24th. Please join us in the multi-purpose room. The goal of the discussion is to listen to our farmers and learn how they see climate and related topics affecting their life and fields. Parishioners are welcome. Watch for details in the bulletin.
We recommend you start your year with this 60-second video showing the basic facts of climate change, entitled “Climate change in 60 Seconds:”
Suggestions for little things we can do:
Use cold water detergent.
Use travel coffee mugs instead of throwaway cups for coffee at convenience stores.
Always use the revolving door (their purpose is to keep the hot or cool air inside).
