Creation Care Team February update
It is that wonderful time of year when all of the high school and college winter sports tournaments are starting to take place. This week has been a relief with a few days above 50 degrees with clear skies showing all of the stars which reminds us of how great God’s creation is.
“The LORD God then took the man and settled him in the garden of Eden, to cultivate and care for it.” Genesis 2:15
Our team is very thankful to four of our local farmers (Duane Ohnemus, Bart Brummer, Drew Teghtmeyer and Del Johnson) who on January 24th shared their efforts and views on the various ways that farming affects the environment. It was a very informative presentation moderated by Betsy Freese, former editor of Successful Farming.
The Catholic Church has had concern for the earth for centuries. “Glance at the sun. See the moon and the stars. Gaze at the beauty of earth’s greenings. Now, think. What delight God gives to humankind with all these things…All nature is at the disposal of humankind. We are to work with it. For without it we cannot survive.” St. Hildegard of Bingen.
O Rejoice in All Your Works is a song you may enjoy by Wendell Kimbrough. It is based on Psalm 104.
